This is probably the most fun you can have while learning.
For the first time here is a fantastic summary of what’s really happening to/with elephants – and it’s written in common-speak so even I can understand. AND its digital – with video, outstanding imagery, animated maps and easily digestible chunks of information. Its accessible online, via desktop download and as an app for iPad – all free of charge!
There are 12 screens in total, with each screen housing layers of information accessible via intuitive navigational aids. You navigate horizontally between chapters and vertically within each chapter. From an eye-candy point of view I really enjoyed the photo portfolio called “A celebration of elephants” and the animated map called “Elephants numbers and where they live” was very interesting. The remainder of the pages focus on trade matters – from trade routes to markets and values – this really brings the message home that we have turned elephants into consumer products. “The Killing Fields” is plain chilling and scary.
For those wishing to burrow deeper you can access the more text-heavy PDF scientific papers.
This is essential reading for anybody that wants to understand the true elephant ‘problem’ and situation. You will understand elephants like never before.
